Gel Fireplaces

If you don’t like the hassle or mess of a real fire consider buying a gel fireplace for your home. These innovative fireplaces are ventless, smokeless and portable.  Cans of alcohol gel are placed in the holders and lit.  Alcohol gel burns with a bright gold or orange flame and burns with the same intensity as a real flame.  The gel even gives off a crackle sound like a real log fire.

In some areas it is not even necessary to get approval to have a gel fireplace in your home, while other areas list them as outdoor fireplaces.  Installation of a gel fireplace is easy and they can be placed almost anywhere.

 

 

 

 

 

They are ideal for apartments and condominiums, can be hung on walls and are totally portable.  In most fireplaces, you place the can of fuel behind a ceramic log and then light the fuel with a long match.  There are now also ceramic logs that open up to allow you to pour the fuel inside.

 

The only downside to having a gel fireplace is that the cost of the gel is fairly expensive at about $8 to $10 a bottle.  This cost should go down as this type of fireplace becomes more popular.  As always, do some research and comparison shopping before you make a purchase.
